Anna Blazhiyevska

Anna Blazhiyevskais a Ukrainian folk art artist who blends the centuries-old European tradition of painting on wooden eggs and plates with her own distinctive style. Her designs range from modern and landscape compositions to traditional Ukrainian Petrikivka floral patterns. She works primarily in acrylics, finishing each piece with a high-gloss sheen.
After moving to the U.S., she earned a Graphic Design certificate from Diablo Valley College, studied with art professionals including professors and alumni from Yale and UC Berkeley, and is currently completing an art program at UC Berkeley. She expanded her practice to oil and acrylic on canvas, pen and ink, soft and oil pastels, and charcoal.
For over a decade, Anna has taught art to children and adults, inspiring creativity in her students. Her work is featured in private collections across the U.S. and abroad.
Anna is a member of The Alamo Danville Artists’ Society (ADAS), Livermore Art Association, and the founder and owner of the AB ART Studio.

"As a native Ukrainian, I juxtapose the centuries-old European folk tradition of painting on wooden eggs with the practice of painting on canvas. By painting on an organic, curved surface instead of a flat canvas, my miniature 'eggscapes' represent the beauty of natural landscapes while echoing the curvature of the Earth. I like working with wood because it’s a warm material that evokes a feeling of sunlight. Through my work, the traditions of the old world are placed side-by-side with a modern style of painting. In my canvas paintings, I combine living and inanimate nature. Exploring these opposite sides of life, I aim to reveal the magic in the complexity around us. Each painting becomes an experiment, allowing me to explore relationships between simple objects and their place in my world."
